Ghadran clinches top spot of Castrol Goal Championship

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia- Ghadran clinched the top spot of the Castrol Goal Championship, Riyadh with an impressive performance by beating Al Bukheet 3-2 in a tightly fought final held on March 8.
The 5- a-side tournament held in Riyadh witnessed a gruel competition in the second round of the event between the 40 teams who progressed past the group’s stage. Through a knockout system teams played each other with the winner progressing to the next rounds. Some of the teams who managed to playoff during the groups stage included Ghadran, Calcio Al Amwaj, Al Qowa Al Ashera , Al Barca, Chelsea Al Riyadh, Mohtrfeen, Samba , F15, Al Bokheet , Zezo 10, Falcons, RKH, Al Jazear ,Saudi Today etc.
Champions Ghadran defeated Al Olympi Al Museef by 8-1 en route to the semi-final. Likewise, the second place Al Bukheet beat Ameed Al Sharq by 6-3. But there was an element of surprise and also shocker as Al Qanas literally breezed past Al Museef by a 4-0 victory thereby booking the third semi-finals berth. Another tight game,was held between F15 and Barcelona (3), where the former won by 5-2.In the third decider match, Al Qanas defeated F15.
The four teams that qualified for Castrol Goal Championship, Riyadh are- Ghadran, Al Bukheet, Al Qanas and F15.They will now battle it out in the major Castrol Goal Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai in the coming week. The final team that wins the match and clinched the top spot will win a fully paid trip to watch the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
